Apple uses the GateKeeper application to keep a tight rein on Macintosh applications, with the goal of ensuring that you don't install malicious applications. Unfortunately, this diligence sometimes makes it difficult to install applications that haven't been approved for the App Store (which includes Virtue Poker, beta programs and most new software on the market). The GateKeeper application has become even more aggressive in recent releases of macOS. This article explains how to safely install the Virtue Poker client on your Mac using macOS v10.14 or later.
- Go to System Preferences on your Mac and double-click on Security & Privacy.
- Click the General tab. The bottom section allows you to choose what sources to allow apps to be installed from. Click the Lock, which will prompt you for your password. Then Choose Mac App Store and Identified Developers.
When you first install Virtue Poker, your Mac will likely confirm that you want to install an application that is not in the App Store. Click Yes to proceed.
